(More customer reviews)To start, high thread count isn't everything. If you spend a little time researching it, you'll find that thread counts can be manipulated by doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling the yarns then weaving them as one, but counting them as more than one, which is perfectly legal. While Egyptian cotton is great, you have to have super fine yarns and single ply to truly feel the quality.
The description of these sheets doesn't state yarn size, and it doesn't state how many plies are used to make the sheets. This being said, I still purchased a set because they were at an amazing price. The old idiom definitely holds true here. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
When the sheets come out of the package they actually aren't that bad, they feel smooth, and thick. But the first thing you are SUPPOSED to do with sheets is wash them BEFORE you use them. This is where it went terribly wrong.
I read the label, and it says to wash in cold water, NOT ON A HEAVY WASH CYCLE, and low heat dry.
I figured it would require cold water wash, so I purchased some tide cold water for the occasion.
After washing and drying the sheets as per the instructions, I took them out of the dryer0, and was astonished at how HORRIBLE they felt. They felt unbelievably STIFF AND SCRATCHY. So I washed them again, and a THIRD TIME, AND STILL HORRIBLE. I even tried some home remedies for softening sheets on the third go round to absolutely no avail. Of course they aren't eligible for return at this point, because they've been washed, so I'm stuck eating it on them.
Do not waste you time with these sheets, they aren't worth the money. Make sure the sheets yarn size, and ply are listed, and you want to go with a high yarn size (higher the number means finer, usually 100-140 and single ply means that thread count ACTUALLY MATTERS) Another important factor is the weave, and believe me the wrong weave can make stiff sheets as well.
