(More customer reviews)Having just purchased a new mattress, I also bought this comforter. The material is very nice and soft. No feathers have tried to escape. Personally, I would say that this comforter is a "medium" heat retainer. It keeps me warm without overheating. The comforter did not smell coming out of the packaging at all, has fluffed up quite nicely, and is not so large that it pokes out from under my bedspread.
